The necessity of being insured is at high these days. Not knowing what the future holds is certainly a scary thing. Now, aside from being in the age bracket of 65 years old and older, you can also qualify for Medicare Part D. This is if you meet certain criteria. So how? If you’re enrolled in Medicare, you’ll be eligible for Part D. To know more, continue reading this article.
Eligibility For Part D
Below are the qualifications for Medicare Part D.
A. You’re aged 65 years or older and enrolled in Medicare Part A and B.
B. You’ve received your Social Security disability payments for at least 2 years.
C. You are diagnosed with end-stage renal disease or kidney failure. In addition, you’ll be needing a kidney transplant or dialysis.
D. Individuals under the age of 20 or minors with one parent qualified for the social security benefits.
Now, the qualified individuals will be explained in further detail.

  1. Individuals aged 65 or older
The qualifying factor for individuals under this age group is enrolling for the plan three months before your birthday. If not, you’ll be allowed to do so 3 months after your birthday. Similarly, you’ll be asked to provide your Medicare number and the date you’re eligible.
  2. Individuals with a disability
If you’re not aged 65 years old and above, you can qualify for the benefits if you have a disability. In this case, once you start to receive your Social Security and RailRoad Disability Benefits, you can enroll in Part D. To be exact, you’ll be eligible for Part D 3 months before the 25th of the month.

When is the coverage for Part D?
There are various drug prescriptions for Medicare Part D. Among these are medications for outpatients services. Most plans include all basic prescription coverages. Together with these coverages, there are also drugs with formulary or drug lists. If that’s the case, you may consult with your doctor.

Final Thoughts
Medicare Part D offers benefits not just for people aged 65 years and older. These individuals include people with disabilities and children as long as they meet the minimum requirements.
